Afro Cuban History and Culture Immersive Studies

Our Afro Cuban History and Culture Immersive Studies program is a unique learning experience that provides hands on learning opportunities to engage with Afro Cuban history, culture, tradition, language, and community.

With a focus on the city of Havana, this seven-day immersive experience will explore topics such as black entrepreneurship, traditional medicinal practice and Yoruba based religion, land ownership and food accessibility, Afro Cuban music, dance, artistic expression and more through community conversations, interactive lectures, guided tours, and visits to the homes of local scholars, activists, and specialists of black culture in Cuba.

This course is currently open to Howard University students only.

Whats included in the program fee: housing, on-ground transportation, meals, cultural activities and guest lectures with educators, scholars activists and historians on the topic of black culture and history in Cuba

What's not included: Round-trip airfare, entrance visas to Cuba, meals and other activities not listed on the itinerary, tips for local guides

Failure to make payment by above due dates will result in removal from the program. If the payment deadline is missed, the reservation made for placement in program can not be guaranteed as spaces are limited.

RefundS & Cancellations

Our Policies

50% of the total program/trip cost is due 60 days from the start date of trip/program. If cancellations are made within 60 days on the behalf of the student/participant, the participant will receive the full amount of deposit made minus a $300 cancellation fee. Refunds for cancellations on the behalf to the participant within 60 days will be made to the original form of payment within 3-5 business days.

30 days from the start date of the program, the remaining 50% of the program/trip cost is due. If

cancellations on the behalf of the student/participant are made within 30 days, the student/participant will be charged a $300 cancelation fee and be eligible for a refund of 50% percent of the total program/trip cost, or the total program/trip costs paid prior to the cancellation. Refunds for cancellations on the behalf to the student/participant within 30 days will be made to the original form of payment within 3-5 business days.

Cancellations within less than 30 days: If cancellations on the part of the student/participant are made within less than 30 days, the cancellation reason will be placed under review and a refund amount for cancellation will be determined. In the case of emergency, injury, illness, personal loss, death, or other circumstances out of the participant’s control, supporting documentation will be required. ReglaSOUL Program Cancellations: the case of cancellation on behalf of ReglaSOUL, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of ReglaSOUL, a full refund will be paid to the student/participant within 30 days from the date of Program cancellation.
