Farming + Sustainability Immersive Program

Now accepting applications for Fall 2026!

Our Farming + Sustainability Program is a unique, immersive learning experience that provides hands-on opportunities to engage with community, culture, land stewardship, and ecology from an Afro-Caribbean-centered perspective. You will be guided by experienced program facilitators who live in Havana. Most importantly, this program offers the chance to form real, lasting connections with Cuban people of intention and purpose in an environment of mutual learning.

This five-day immersive experience will explore topics such as urban farming, regenerative agriculture, issues of food apartheid, environmental racism, the climate crisis, solutions to current food shortages, and more. You will be guided through the program by ReglaSOUL co-founders Amberly and Alexey and will visit their family farm in Soroa and the community garden in the neighborhood of Regla.

This program will also include travel to the province of Artemisa, where you will learn about Afro Cuban led resistance movements, cimarron healing practices, and the significant agricultural contributions of Africans brought to Cuba as enslaved people in the western Cuban town of Soroa, located in the Sierra del Rosario mountains.

Participants in this program will have a one-of-a-kind opportunity to engage in dialogue with Cuban farmers, community cooperatives, herbalists, Afro-Cuban religious leaders, scholars, and educational institutions that are part of the ReglaSOUL family. As part of our commitment to nurturing sustainable relationships in Cuba, your program fees directly support the Cuban people.

“Spending my spring break in Cuba was a rewarding soulful experience. I was able to not only learn about the history, culture, and the people of Cuba, but I felt that I was able to keep my hand on the pulse of the Cuban people and the importance of being an Afro-Cuban. The experiences has enriched my knowledge and understanding of the Afro Cuban society”

"Regla Soul is everything they promise and more. I remember being introduced to the opportunity in Spanish class being lured in by the prospect of visiting an afro-ecological farm in Havana, cuba. While this was the day I looked forward to the most every item on our itinerary was so complex and interdisciplinary that although my cohort had a diverse set of majors and concentrations we could all take something away from every visit and conversation. Traveling with Regla Soul is a once in a lifetime opportunity to live as closely with Cubans as possible"

“Tourist vacations typically offer surface-level education and photo-worthy sightseeing. However, our tour with Regla Soul provided a depth of experience that I will never forget. We did not simply point and shoot photos from afar. We spoke intimately with people representing the faces of Cuban history and culture. Our conversations allowed us to understand the source of Cuban pride, resilience, and innovation. I always dreamed of visiting Cuba. I'm so glad that I chose to experience the country and people with Regla Soul”
